Appalachian is excited to host 3 unique and fun Terrain Park events over the coming weekend that will offer something for riders of all ages and abilities, beginning with the Line/Ride Fresh Friday on Friday Night, January 11.
The Line/Ride Fresh Friday is a FREE jam session that will take place in the Appaljack Terrain Park on a brand new, never before seen setup. The ATP crew plans to begin construction on some of the custom features over the next few nights. The idea is to provide several unique and creative features that can be used in a variety of ways by riders of any ability level. Line Skis and Ride Snowboards will be on slope to help judge and award standouts from the session with a bunch of great prizes.
In conjunction with this Fresh Friday, K2 snowboards will host a Pop This! High Ollie contest for snowboarders. The winner of the High Ollie will win a K2 Fastplant snowboard!
Registration for the Fresh Friday and Pop This! contest will be held in the Alpine Ski Shop on Friday evening, from 5 – 6:30, with the event beginning at 7.
Spectators are encouraged to come out and support the riders, ASM will be issuing free spectator tickets @ the registration booth and Main Office for anyone who wants to stop by and watch the action go down first hand!
On Saturday, January 12, ASM will host the region’s first Burton Riglet Park Tour, which is a mobile product demo and mini-snowboard park geared towards introducing children as young as 2 to the sport of snowboarding. A custom children’s learning terrain area will be provided at the base of ASM and Burton Snowboard experts will be offering a free “introductory terrain park experience” for children ages 2 to 6. The idea is to get children comfortable on the snow, and moving over small changes in terrain – establishing sound fundamentals for park riding.
Registration is FREE for the Burton Riglet Park Tour and will be held in the Alpine Ski Shop throughout the day. There will be 2 main sessions of park orientation in the Riglet Terrain Park – from 10am-12 noon, and from 1pm – 3pm. The overall experience should last around 30-45 minutes for each child. Parents are encouraged to watch the action from the front slope entrance, or from the observation deck on the 2nd level of the lodge. Helmets are required for children to participate.
Sunday, ASM will offer the first “Ladies Park Session” of the season – which will be held during the day! Burton will be hosting this event, and providing demo product for ladies to sample, as well as offering helpful coaching & trick tips to anyone interested.
App Terrain Park plans to construct a custom park setup tailored with women in mind for the event, and will be located in the AppalTop Terrain Park. Expect some great progression jumps for getting comfortable leaving the ground, as well as small, low consequence boxes and rails designed for learning new tricks. The event is open to both snowboarders and skiers.
Registration for the Session is FREE with purchase of a ski ticket, and will be held in the Alpine Ski Shop from 9am – 11:30am. The event will start around Noon, and should last from 12-5pm.
