2.5 Million Dollars Reinvested in Improvements at Appalachian Ski Mtn.
After a $2.5 million investment in snowmaking infrastructure and other facilities, Appalachian Ski Mtn. now has the greatest snowmaking pumping capacity per acre in the Southeast Region. Over the last two years, Appalachian has more than doubled its water pumping capacity and reservoir capacity, and installed the electrical infrastructure to support continued snowmaking improvements over the next decade. Appalachian’s snowmaking system now has the capability to produce over 40 million pounds of snow per day.
In a winter season with unusually sporadic rain and warm weather, Appalachian has consistently led the region in the amount of snow on the slopes. Improvements have also been made to the equipment rental operation, restaurant serving areas, ski ticket selling windows, parking, and terrain parks.
