Appalachian Ski Mtn. is excited to share the comprehensive measures that are being implemented for the 2020-21 winter season to allow guests to have a fun and healthy winter on our slopes and our ice arena. Enhanced health and safety measures are in place in every part of our operation. Keeping our guests and staff safe is our Number One priority. Make this your best visit ever with these new changes!
New Covid-19 improvements that will be in place as of Opening Day 2020:
1. ONLINE RESERVATIONS NOW REQUIRED
ASM is implementing an all-new online reservations platform and reservations will now be required for skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, equipment rental and season memberships. Clothing Rental, Nursery (childcare), Park Passes and Parking are now also available on the online platform. This will provide guests the most time on the slopes and minimal time in the lodge.
2. TIMESLOT BASED TICKET PICKUP
Every person will have a specific reserved 5-minute timeslot for ticket pickup at the cashier booth. This cutting-edge timeslot system will expedite your lodge experience and maximize your time on the snow. This timeslot system dovetails perfectly with our renowned Flex Ticket, so no matter what time slot is selected, your session starts when your ticket is issued. Guests are asked not to enter the lodge more than 5 minutes before their scheduled pick-up time.
3. LIMITED DAILY TICKET SALES
ASM will be self-imposing capacity restrictions on weekends and holidays for the 2020-21 season.
4. SEASON MEMBERSHIP UPGRADES
To provide our Members and Nights-Only passholders with the best experience possible, we will be automatically upgrading all Season Memberships and Nights-Only passes to VIP status. This means straight to the slopes, no ticket required, and will minimize time and contact in the lodge while maximizing time on the slopes. Reservations will not be required for Members and Nights-Only passholders.
5. REDUCED SKI SCHOOL LESSON SIZE AND CAPACITY LIMITS
Ski school lessons will be reduced to 6 persons per instructor and masks will be required during all lessons and instructor interaction. Lesson numbers are limited, and reservations are strongly suggested.
6. REDUCED ICE SKATING CAPACITY, RESERVATIONS REQUIRED
Ice arena capacity has been greatly reduced and reservations are required. Skating facilities will be open 30 minutes before each session begins to better distance guests while processing.
7. FACE COVERINGS REQUIRED
For ages 2 and up in all indoor spaces, no exceptions! Face coverings are also required outside in lift lines, on chairlifts, in lessons and on the ice floor at our ice arena. Masks must cover nose and mouth at all times in these situations and face coverings should be worn on ski area property when not distanced six feet or more from others.
8. OUTDOOR PICNIC SEATING DOUBLED; REDUCED CAPACITIES IN ALL INDOOR DINING AREAS
All dining areas in the Base Lodge now provide at least six feet physical distance between tables. New outdoor picnic areas adjacent to the lodge have also been added and will be available every day with capacity for 400 people.
9. TOUCHLESS PAYMENT SYSTEMS
These new systems have been added throughout our facilities, including ticket cashiers, restaurant, ski shop, gift shop and clothing rental.
10. NEW SELF-GROUP POLICY INSTITUTED FOR ALL CHAIRLIFTS
Guests may self-group on chairlifts at 50% capacity or more per chair. This means guests may choose to load a double chair either one or two persons at a time depending on their preference. A quad chair may be loaded with two persons on opposite sides or with three or four persons per chair depending on guest preference.
11. HANDS-FREE DOOR PULLS
Forearm door pulls have been installed throughout base lodge in key locations. This will offer our guests the most hygienic experience possible and the option to never have to use their hands to open a single door.
12. HANDS-FREE RESTROOM FAUCETS
Sensor faucets have been installed in our restaurant restrooms. Hands-free sanitizing stations will also be available in several spots throughout the ski area.
13. LEXAN SCREENS/SHIELDS
Over 60 pieces of custom-cut protective polycarbonate shields have been installed at numerous employee contact areas in our base lodge.
14. FLOOR SIGNAGE
Custom designed physical distancing floor signage has been installed throughout the facility.
15. EMPLOYEE SAFETY
Numerous staff protocols have been implemented to achieve physical distancing among ASM employees. These include additional stations for clocking in, protocols to distance while working and eating, and daily temperature-check and health-screenings for all employees.
16. CLEANING & DISINFECTING
Our staff will be using hydrostatic sprayers throughout our facilities with N-listed EPA disinfectant with a 30 second Covid-19 kill time.
17. ONE-WAY TRAFFIC AREAS
Select areas in the lodge will be designated as one-way directional traffic to minimize any cross-contact among guests and staff.
18. EXPANDED BOOT-FITTING AREAS
50% increase in additional seating for ski or snowboard boot-fitting are being added under a newly-roofed area against the front of the base lodge overlooking the slopes.
We are looking forward to welcoming skiers, snowboarders and ice skaters with an improved and seamless experience for the 2020-21 winter season!
