Who We Are
Appalachian Ski Patrol is an outdoor emergency response organization serving Appalachian Ski Mtn. This patrol is dedicated to providing snow sport safety education, emergency medical care, hazard mitigation, and rescue services. Consisting of both volunteer and paid patrollers, Appalachian Ski Patrol is recognized through the National Ski Patrol, which serves the outdoor recreation industry.
Appalachian Ski Patrol was founded in 1962 and is an award winning part of the National Ski Patrol System and an active member of the Southern Division of the NSP. We have been awarded the Outstanding Division Patrol of the Year numerous times and have multiple patrollers awarded individual awards including Paid Professional Patroller of the Year, Volunteer Patroller of the Year, Instructor of the Year, and Outstanding Patrol Representative of the Year.
As patrollers we provide the skiing and snowboarding public with rescue and first aid services, and promote safety and courtesy on the mountain.
-All Members of the Appalachian Ski Patrol are members of the National Ski Patrol and certified as Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) Technicians
-Appalachian Ski Patrol Members are trained in special rescue techniques including toboggan handling, chairlift evacuation and technical rope rescue
-Appalachian Ski Patrol is a non-profit, volunteer driven organization

Interested in becoming a patroller?
How to become a Patroller for Appalachian Ski Mtn:
-National Ski Patrol Outdoor Emergency Care Course
This class runs from August until mid November, and meets Tuesday nights from 6-9pm.
-When the Ski Mtn. opens, we begin training for the On-Hill Medical test and after passing that, training begins for skiing, riding and toboggan transportation and earning your Alpine Patroller Certification.
-The Candidate process can take between 1 and 2 years to complete.
Appalachian Ski Patrol is committed to providing quality medical care and service to skiing the public and serving our community through our annual Wounded Warrior Day the first weekend of March.
